I am a midwife certified through the North American Registry of Midwives and licensed through the State of Virginia and Alabama. I practice using the Midwives Model of Care and believe that healthy mothers experiencing ‘uneventful’ pregnancies rarely need any more elaborate tools than simple faith and support to give birth well.
Birth is a normal healthy experience and homebirth is an excellent option for women in good general health. As a midwife, I offer woman-led care, supported by education, respect, and love. I believe that once they’re provided with all the information, women are the best at deciding what’s right for their bodies. Every woman has the right to safe, satisfying health care and every family has the right to participate in decisions regarding pregnancy and birth, and to share the experience of that birth in a family-centered environment. Every pregnancy and birth is as different as the women experiencing them. For this reason, your care is catered to each woman as an individual. As a midwife, I trust in the birth process; knowing that a woman who is relaxed and comfortable with her surroundings will have a more positive birth experience.
The Midwives Model of Care is based on the fact that pregnancy and birth are normal life processes.

I started my birthing path after having gone through one cesarean, due to “failure to progress”, and one elective cesarean, due to a diagnosis of CPD. I had worked in a few hospitals over a few years doing newborn photography but wanted more. A friend of mine suggested I look into being a doula and I was totally sold!
I received my doula certification through Childbirth International and started my doula practice in 2006 and within a year found out that I was pregnant again. Of course, this time I would birth different. I planned and had a beautiful homebirth after two cesareans.
In 2008 I joined the Birth Arts CBE program. In 2009 I attended The Farm Midwifery Center Birth Assistant workshop. I then started assisting a midwife, which soon turned into apprenticing with a midwife and started on the path to becoming a CPM. In 2014 I earned my CPM credential through North American Registry of Midwives. I have had many different birth experiences working as a doula, student midwife, and CPM and have supported women in hospital, birth center, and home births.
I am in the business of training up future midwives, whether its through midwife assistant classes or precepting student midwives.
I am also a Master Trainer for Helping Babies Breathe and Helping Mothers Survive Bleeding After Birth.
